Ono to teach a class in art as a successful biz

Artist and entrepreneur Ira Ono will teach a class in “The Business of Art” from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 14, at the Volcano Art Center Niaulani Campus in Volcano Village.

Topics will include techniques for pricing, presentations, creating multiples for increased sales and what to look for in hiring helpers. Marketing topics cover Internet marketing, catalog sales, trade shows, visual merchandising and affordable display techniques, as well as packaging and presentation for wholesale, retail and fine art gallery sales.

Class registration is $60, with educational subsidies available. Call 967-8222.

Ono is a nationally recognized artist. His work can be found in public and private collections in the U.S., Europe and Japan.

Ono was voted businessman of the year by the Volcano Rotary Club. He has been living in Hawaii and actively involved in the arts community of East Hawaii for more than 30 years.

Ono is also the founder of Volcano Garden Arts Gallery and Cafe Ono in Volcano Village.
