The Yes to Seed Fund, in partnership with Whole Foods Markets, is dedicated to helping K-12 schools plant gardens in order to give kids fun and engaging ways to learn about nutrition and the importance of fruits and vegetables.
Five $2,000 Seed Fund Grants will be awarded to local K-12 schools in the Northern California and Pacific Northwest Whole Foods regions. (The Northern California region includes all schools located in Inyo, Kings, Monterey, and Tulare counties as well as all counties to the north. The Pacific Northwest region includes all schools in Oregon and Washington.)
In addition to the Seed Fund Grants, the Fund will award five $500 Starter Garden Grants to schools nationwide.
Priority is given to schools with well thought-out plans to maintain their gardens, and innovative ideas about incorporating the gardens into the school’s curriculum and life.
All applying schools should have a pre-existing commitment to gardening and an internal champion for the project.
Application guidelines are available on the website listed above.
