“Tribal Commercial Codes” Webinar 

On April 27-28, 2011 from 9:00am-11:00am (MST) each day, First Nations Oweesta will deliver a Tribal Commercial Code Training webinar session designed to help Native organizations understand the importance of secured transactions laws for business and consumer credit.  This session is presented in partnership with Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis and will provide answers to the “what’s, why’s, and how’s” of a tribal commercial code.

  • UCC Article 9 -Secured Transactions

  • From Talk to Action: Implementing a Commercial Code

Oweesta welcomes Susan Woodrow, Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis – Helena Branch, as the trainer for our webinar session.  Woodrow works within Community Development on tribal economic development issues, with a focus on commercial legal infrastructure development.

The webinar will be moderated by Oweesta’s Associate Director of Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development Kellie Jewett, and will be followed by Q&A

The webinar session will be delivered via GotoWebinar.  Dial-up information will be sent to all registered participants prior to the start of the webinar. 

This webinar was developed for Oweesta’s TA clients and is open to all individuals and organizations interested in tribal commercial codes. We hope that you take advantage of this excellent opportunity which is free of charge. The session has been designed with an emphasis on CDFIs, community-based organizations, micro-enterprise development organizations, and other community lenders working with Native communities to better understand how to strengthen the legal infrastructure in tribal communities specifically through development of a commercial code.
